Labor Day is here once again and for our local this is a time to reflect on the importance of our union. Thanks to unions, we no longer are forced to beg for better wages and benefits.
As you will see below, our union is working everyday to fight for better conditions and to respond to the needs of our members. Whether it is the ongoing negotiations at Homer City, a new shift schedule at Tinuum or revising classifications at Penelec, all Local Union Reps. are working for you.
Our members are also stepping up to continue the labor's fight that we honor on Labor Day. Sister Sara Detweiler was recently elected as the President of our local chapter of the Coalition of Labor Union Woman, a group that helps to bring issues women face in the workforce to the forefront.
Thanks to the dedication of members like Sara, I am confident that our labor movement will continue to be strong and powerful for many Labor Days to come. Have a Happy Labor Day and take a few minutes this weekend to speak to your family, friends and especially your kids about the importance of unions and their contribution to many of the rights we take for granted every day.
