I would like to thank the Homer City members who took the time to review, comment and return the surveys to the union hall. Your responses and support of the committee are a very important part of the process.
To recap, the Union and Company negotiating committees have met 3 times as of this writing. During the meetings, there has been much discussion surrounding company proposals. We are evaluating the impact they will have on the bargaining unit and the important work the Union members provide to the station. The L.U. 459 bargaining committee is currently working very hard to develop and present counter proposals to the company that are consistent with our objectives. We ask that you are mindful that we are at the beginning of a long difficult process that requires a lot of patience and know that we are focused on reaching a tentative agreement that works for all.
We are thankful for the help of a Federal Mediator during these difficult negotiations and we are encouraged by the open communications we have had thus far. In fact, we have been able to reach tentative agreements (T.A.) on some non-economic issues. The next meetings with the Company committee have been scheduled for July 31, August 1 and August 2. We look forward to these meetings and the opportunity to reach additional tentative agreements on many of the outstanding issues as these negotiations progress.
